The mom-and-pop store began in 2007. While other businesses were going downhill quickly during the Great Recession, D’Vine Wine Bar has seen double-digit growth ever since. In Victorville, there are not many upscale wine stores that appeal to the older crowds. This gives Sipe’s establishment an advantage, giving him uninterrupted access to an untapped market.
On a typical weekend, Sipe and his wife get about 150-200 customers. What seems shocking to the owners of D’Vine Wine Bar, however, is the type of customers that they are getting: a good amount of 20-somethings. Although they were targeting older residents, the Sipes have gained customers simply because they are the only business in the area that offers an upscale, wine tasting experience.
